Snow Polo
Polo started also to be played in the ski stations since 1985. The ball used on snow is made of plastic and much larger than the wooden ball used on grass. That is to avoid the ball to disappear in snow.
In Europe one of the most well known championship of snow polo is the Cartier Polo of St Moritz (Swiss), which takes place in January. In Argentina snow polo is also played, the best known is the one played on the center of ski of Las Leñas. It takes place in during August; other horses activities are also practiced. Polo on snow is slower and the field is smaller, horses are specially prepared to avoid problems.

There can't be too many family-run polo operations in Argentina
like this one. Chris Ashton visits a unique estancia, run entirely by
a family of four sisters whose surname sounds remarkably English.
By way of explanation of The World of Polo, which shows several polo paintings encased in one another, Sydney's Billich Gallery (named after the artist) invites viewers to "step inside the painting…" promising to "introduce you to the origins of polo from China 2000 years ago to the major society sporting event it is today."
